The Confrérie du Sabre d'Or is devoted to promoting the act of Sabrage and the enjoyment of Champagne. The Heart of the Order is the growing number of Caveaux de Sabrage where Sabrage may be performed. The Caveaux range from small restaurants and Wine Bars to the grandest of Hotels. They all have two things in common - Champagne and fun. This is a wine and far too good to be left only to special occasions. A programme of events throughout the year held at prestigious venues gives all our members and their guests excellent value for money and plenty of opportunity for Sabrage as well as enjoying excellent Champagne and food.

Our alcohol emporium is something of an institution. Stuck in a décor time warp, this old curiosity shop is crammed to bursting with bottles, accompanied by hand-written prices and info. The walls and ceilings are plastered with faded photos of the more well-known, or just plain eccentric fans. Gerry's is one of the last outposts of retro Soho. A West-End warren of alleys and side streets which spanned decades as an exotic urban village, filled with artists, actors, gangsters - and hedonism. Our staff have over 45 years of combined experience in the drinks trade, most of which has been served at Gerry's. If you're looking for the obscure or even ridiculous we're the ones to talk to. Not only will we surprise you by being familiar with your choice of rare spirit, but we'll probably have three or four different types of it. We usually have at least six bottles open daily, so that we can share our tastings with our customers. On Friday and Saturday afternoons, these sessions are more specialised - so come in and soak up the infamous Gerry's atmosphere. The shop's customers are as varied as the content. Apart from a vast army of regulars and tourists, many a famous face has crossed or stumbled across the threshold. Specialist staff from top bars, and alcohol aficionados come searching for the ultimate ingredient to concoct a cocktail. With our wide range of miniatures, unusual bottle shapes and designs there's something for everyone. Try some Croatian Kruskovac Pear Liqueur or Soixante-Neuf Grappa with real Karma Sutra figures, all washed down with Unicum, a herbal digestif from Hungary!

Nineteen years ago we began the business of building up what we believe to be the finest place to buy wine in London. From the start, we knew the ingredients: an unparalleled range of Bordeaux and Burgundy, wines imported from undiscovered producers of fantastic quality and people with the knowledge and enthusiasm to champion the cause of good wine. Today we continue to believe in the same things. As high streets are slowly being transformed into one faceless chain we believe there is an ever-growing need for the individual specialist. We remain passionate advocates of wines from all over the world that offer value, character and substance. As an independent we are under no obligation to buy any particular producer's wines. We don't offer big brands of no discernable merit other than a large marketing budget; we simply choose wines that we like, wines that speak of place and individuality.

Louis Roederer is a Champagne house based in Reims, France. It was founded in 1776, and has been owned by the property of the Rouzaud family since 1819, which makes it one of the few major Champagne houses to be family owned. It is most famous for producing the premium champagne Cristal. Tsar Nicholas II nominated Louis Roederer as the official wine supplier to the Imperial Court of Russia, and it thus became known as the 'Champagne of the Tsars'.

Back in 1934 a one Tommy Layton, restaurateur extraordinaire, began the revolutionary practice of delivering carefully selected parcels of fine wine, from Bordeaux and Burgundy, to his customers throughout London. So popular was this enterprise and so high was the demand that Tommy was encouraged to focus his extensive wine expertise on developing a second career out of his interest and passion for wine – and Laytons Wine Merchants was born. As the post-war wine market recovered the business was taken over by the dynamic Graham Chidgey who echoed Tommy’s fervent enthusiasm for wine from the more traditional areas of production. It was Chidgey who first introduced London to Laytons’, now celebrated, Champagne as a direct result of his strong connections in this eponymous region. The company went from strength to strength capitalising on private opportunities that allowed its salesmen to enjoy the luxurious wine merchant lifestyle! Many turbulent years passed before, under the arches at St. Pancras Station, The Jeroboams Group (London-based retailer and wholesaler of cheeses and fine foods) found, and took over Laytons. By this point a successful trade focussed sales team had been developed, taking Laytons back to its roots in the on-trade and allowing the business to grow within the London market. This acquisition gave Laytons a much needed injection of new world expertise that allowed for further development into the business we see today.

Inspired by the traditional fromageries found all over France, Peter Rich opened the first Jeroboams shop in London’s South Kensington in 1985. This shop sold a wide variety of cheeses, each sourced from farms and cheesemakers across Europe, which were individually matured by the Affineur and brought to perfection by expert staff before reaching the customer. While the emphasis was initially on cheese, Jeroboams also stocked a range of speciality foods including charcuterie, oils and foie gras. Most importantly, Jeroboams also stocked a wide selection of fine wines and champagnes. In 2005 Jeroboams was awarded the title 'Greater London Wine Merchant of the Year 2005' followed by the even more significant 'Regional Chain of the Year 2006' at the prestigious annual International Wine Challenge awards.

In a former petrol station in Primrose Hill, Simon Farr had a big idea. He would sell cases of wine directly to customers. The wines would be a mixture of classed growths and funky unusual stuff, rare bottlings and anything else that took his fancy. This idea quickly took shape as Bibendum Wine Limited. Customers soon got into the habit of dropping into Regents Park Road for some quality browsing, getting advice from Ben Collins and Co, and walking out with armfuls of delicious wine. These days Bibendum is one the UK's biggest wine companies.
