Winther Browne was established in 1893 by Mr Winther, a Norwegian dowel manufacturer. Mr Harold Browne joined as a clerk in 1915 and in 1919 bought the company, which then sourced dowels from many countries for the furniture trade. Mr Robert Browne started with the company in 1947 and developed business with the DIY, Home Improvement and Builders Supply trade. Mr Simon Browne joined in 1964 and is currently Chairman. His involvement has resulted in the growth of the company and development of the business in DIY, Interior Design and Exports. The fourth generation is represented by Justin Browne, Sales Director, and Gareth Browne, Buying Director. Winther Browne & Co Ltd is a leading supplier of Fireplaces, Fires, Radiator Cabinets (covers) and Book Shelves, Wood Mouldings and Carvings, Screening Panels, Lattice Panels, Wooden Vent Grilles, Staircase components. We also have a special order department for bespoke carvings, screening, made-to-measure radiator cabinets and stair casing components.
