Grim's Dyke Hotel is a carefully restored country house in Harrow, London, renowned as the former residence of Sir William Gilbert and for its conference and wedding facilities. Grim's Dyke has had a fascinating history since its construction in 1872 by Richard Norman Shaw for the eminent Victorian artist, Frederick Goodall. Bought in 1890 by W.S.Gilbert, the famous dramatist and librettist partner of Sir Arthur Sullivan, it remained his home for over 20 years until his death in the lake. Afterwards it achieved awards for its gardens, was a sanitorium and hospital, the site of secret World War II projects, became a film set for Hammer horror films, and the location for many well known T.V. shows up to the present. In 1996 the Melton Medes Group undertook a £3 million restoration of the exterior and refurbished the house under the supervision of English Heritage to create the delightful hotel and restaurant it is today.

Capreolus Fine Foods is a family owned artisan smokehouse that specialises in the production of cured and smoked meats and other charcuterie. Quality and provenance are of the utmost importance to us and we source locally bred and reared meat from traditional breeds wherever possible. Curing of the meat before smoking follows age-old traditional techniques combined with a flair and instinct for flavour. Smoking takes place over oak – the most traditional of hardwoods. Our product range includes: cold-smoked wild venison and beef, smoked duck, chicken and pheasant, dry-cured bacon, cooked hams, and confit of duck and pork. Capreolus Fine Foods derives its name from the Roe deer whose Latin name is Capreolus capreolus.

Adjacent to the village is Cranborne Manor set in beautiful gardens. The Manor is the Dorset home of Viscount Cranborne, the eldest son of the 7th Marquess of Salisbury. The gardens are open once a week in the Spring and Summer for the public to enjoy and the Cranborne Manor Garden Centre, specialising in old fashioned roses, clematis and all the best plants for a country garden, is open every day. Mary’s Tearoom offers Garden Centre visitors the chance to taste delicious home-made food including the speciality meats produced on the Estate.
