A footwear business was established at 65 London Street, Norwich, over 135 years ago. The founder of Bowhill & Elliott, Obadiah Bowhill, purchased the business from Wright & Co. in 1874. The business passed onto his son and son-in-law, Thomas Baines Elliott, at the end of the nineteenth century. Thus the partnership of Bowhill & Elliott was formed. And the family connection continues into this new century under the direction of Roger Jury, descendant of Mr. Elliott. Bowhill & Elliott has a shop from which it retails a large selection of ladies and mens shoes including the following brands: Crockett & Jones, Cheaney, Barkers, Loake, Mephisto, HB Shoes, Gabor and Peter Kaiser. At the same location there is a small factory where Bowhill and Elliott manufactures slippers and houseshoes and specialises in producing hand embroidered velvet houseshoes and making up tapestry, needlepoint or fabric into houseshoes.

The Loake family has been producing fine, handmade men's footwear for longer than anyone can remember. The tradition began in 1880, when three brothers - Thomas, John and William - opened a factory in Northamptonshire in the heart of the English shoemaking industry. The aim was to provide the most handsome, comfortable and durable gentlemen's shoes possible. Today, more than 125 years and five generations later, Loake is still family owned and operating in the same town in Northamptonshire. Our shoes have become a favourite with discerning customers worldwide and are exported to over 30 countries.

Tricker Ltd and five generations later his family continue to apply the same traditional crafts and skills in the production of the world renowned “Tricker’s” shoes. Church’s was founded in 1873 by Thomas Church and his three sons Alfred, William and Thomas Jr., who could count on family experience in the production of handmade men’s shoes dating back to 1675. Church’s shoes are beyond fashion. The great men’s styles such as Oxfords and brogues never date, although colours and details may vary from season to season. Next to the traditional collection Church’s offers a range of styles which are addressed to customers who look for a trendy twist.

New & Lingwood is a world-renowned menswear company which was established in 1865 in Eton to serve the scholars of Eton College. It has continued since then to act as the official outfitters to the College from its original premises at 118 High Street, Eton, fitting out in many cases five generations of the same family.
